Really? I’m not a lawyer. And I certainly agree that misuse of campaign funds is a serious crime. But let’s get serious for just a minute here. Is the takeaway from this sad, sordid story of arrogance and entitlement and deceit and infidelity ever going to be about campaign-finance law? When people look back on the meteoric rise and spectacular fall that cost Edwards his reputation, his career, his marriage, and his self-respect, are they going to think, Gee, if he’d only been more careful about those donor dollars?"
