The GOP's fade to irrelevance in California

Now, it’s nearly impossible for a Republican to get elected statewide -- so California doesn’t produce anyone with enough stature for the national GOP ticket. The massive Democratic voter registration advantage helps explain why.

According to the latest figures from the Secretary of State’s office, Democratic registration is 43.5% to 30.3% for Republicans.
