About Me

I am a conservative attorney who specializes in campaign finance and election law.  I currently work at the Sacramento political law firm Bell, McAndrews and Hiltachk (posts are my own, and do not reflect the views of my employer). Previously, I worked as Deputy Campaign Manager and General Counsel for Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner's California Gubernatorial race. Before that, I was FEC Counsel for McCain-Palin 2008 and was Deputy General Counsel for the Romney for President.

My legal practice consists of advising corporate, non-profit and campaign clients on:

  • Federal and state campaign finance laws
  • Lobbying disclosure
  • Government ethics laws
  • Public official financial disclosure
  • Fundraising strategy
  • Campaign administration
  • Ballot access
  • Election Day operations
  • Delegate selection rules
  • Advertising direct mail robo-call and other public communications compliance
  • Political convention rules and operations.

I have also worked as legal counsel to the Committee on House Administration of the U.S. House of Representatives where I focused on issues such as HAVA implementation, election integrity, congressional ethics, and campaign finance. I worked at the Federal Election Commission as law clerk to Commissioner Michael E. Toner and at the DC law firm Caplin & Drysdale where I focused exclusively on campaign finance, election law and lobbying issues.

Nothing on this site is intended to be legal advice, and nothing on the site creates an attorney-client relationship with me.  Comments are the views of the commenter, not me.  I post links that I find interesting, not that I necessarily agree with.
