Self funded philanthropist Wil Cardon to challenge Jeff Flake in AZ Senate primary

POLITICO.com:
"A 40-year-old Mesa investment manager is entering the GOP Senate primary in Arizona and pledging to outspend Rep. Jeff Flake.

In his first interview with a national media outlet, Wil Cardon told POLITICO Friday he will formally file the paperwork as a Republican to seek retiring Sen. Jon Kyl's seat within the next two weeks because Arizonans deserve a candidate from outside of Washington.

'I've had enough. I'm a conservative, I'm a jobs creator, I'm a father and I just can't stand by. I'm not going to be a business as usual guy. I know how to create jobs, how to get the economy going and I think Washington needs more people like that,' Cardon said in a 30-minute telephone conversation.

'Jeff's a good man, but Jeff is part of Washington,' he said, when asked how he matches up with the congressman.

Cardon, a Harvard and Stanford graduate who manages The Cardon Group investment company has already enlisted Arizona consultant Jason Rose as well as pollster Glen Bolger and media strategist Doug McAuliffe to be part of his core campaign team."
