"Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer was on 'The Colbert Report' Thursday night on Comedy Central, but it was no joke.

The promo for the program advertised Roemer as the Republican Party's best candidate for president.

Roemer looked and sounded presidential.

The only thing funny was Colbert's 'cone of silence' he placed over his head so he supposedly would not hear Roemer's political pitch.

Colbert, who has raised large amounts of money for U.S. Olympic teams, has started a political action committee to raise funds for this fall's elections, but he hasn't decided what the PAC would do. He said his attorney advised him that until he decides what course the PAC would take, he should put the cone on his head when a candidate is speaking."
