"It didn't take long for Florida's plans for a premier presidential primary spot to hit a snag.
The snag: Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer wants to move her state's primary up to Jan. 31.
Brewer spokesman Matthew Benson confirmed in an interview Wednesday that Brewer wants what a lot of other states want – an early primary, forcing candidates to pay attention to her state and its issues, generating political buzz.
'It is not set in stone,' Benson said, 'but the governor is leaning toward Jan. 31.'
That would bust up plans by both national political parties for Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina to go first with primaries and caucuses in February."
