CCP Expresses Concerns About North Carolina’s Voter-Owned Election Act

Center for Competitive Politics:
"The Center for Competitive Politics sent a letter today to the North Carolina legislature expressing concern about continuing North Carolina's Voter-Owned Election Act (VOEA). Implemented in 2004, the program is, among other things, a system of providing tax subsidies for judicial campaigns.

VOEA was enacted with the promise of reducing interest group influence and increasing public confidence in elected officials, but like most similar programs of this nature, VOEA failed to achieve its goals and has proven to be a waste of tax revenue."
