A national political party has filed suit against the Federal Election Commission seeking to knock out the current contribution limits on what an individual may contribute to the party for independent expenditures. Republican National Committee, the Republican Party of Louisiana and its chairman, and two local party committees filed suit today against the Federal Election Commission (FEC) claiming the committees have the first amendment right to set up non-contribution accounts, to raise unlimited amounts from individuals, and spend them on independent federal election activity.
