Obama techies sell startup to NGP VAN

Democratic tech giant NGP VAN, the data company that aided both of President Barack Obama’s campaigns and those of many other Democrats, will announce today that it is acquiring a startup launched by Obama campaign alums. The group has purchased NationalField, an online organizing network and dashboard tool for campaigns to integrate and aid their field operations. According to NGP VAN, it’s the first time one political tech company has acquired another political tech company. And it’s a sign of the blooming cottage industry of political tech startups created by Obama’s digital talent — who are looking to sell their wares to state and local candidates in 2014 and beyond.
