American University Scholars Point Out Flaws in Liberals’ Opposition to Voter ID

Pastor was not the only academic to criticize liberals who oppose voter ID.  Curtis Gans, himself a self-professed liberal, said, “liberals dismiss vote fraud, but it exists.”  He pointed out that Minnesota had convictions for knowingly submitting fraudulent ballots.  He criticized liberals because members of the public “don’t hear about the integrity of the franchise from liberals.”  Gans, who is currently the Director of the Center for the Study of the American Electorate, was the staff director for the presidential campaign of Eugene J. McCarthy and a member of the Democratic National Policy Council.
