According to the deal announced Wednesday by California Attorney General Kamala Harris, the companies agreed to specific steps that will bring the industry in line with California's online privacy law.
The law, the first of its kind in the country, requires online sites that collect personal information - including mobile apps - to have and post a privacy policy, the attorney general's office said.
