The practical effect of such a change is that Our Destiny PAC, which has spent more than $1.86 million independently promoting Huntsman’s long-shot presidential campaign in New Hampshire ahead of the state’s Jan. 10 primary, would be able to avoid filing an otherwise mandatory, 12-day pre-primary campaign finance report. That report is supposed to be due on Thursday.
The report, if filed, would lay bare the PAC donors’ names and the amount of money they’ve contributed during its four-months in existence. Huntsman’s wealthy father has reportedly funded much of the super PAC’s operations.
