Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has a familiar California name helping him make the case that he's the man to take on Barack Obama and to create new jobs. And it's former eBay CEO Meg Whitman.
Whitman, the GOP gubernatorial candidate whose campaign spent $180 million in an unsuccessful 2010 bid against Jerry Brown, is today a finance director for the GOP presidential candidate and a fundraiser for his campaign.
And she makes an appearance in Romney's detailed new "Believe in America" jobs and economic growth policy released this week. Here's the link to the entire Romney plan.
Whitman argues Romney is the man who can handle Obama's job: "I've seen him excell in pressure sitautions and under the most difficult circumstances....I know what Mitt's made of, and what he stands for."
But does she also take a shot atthe new GOP presidential frontrunner Texas Gov. Rick Perry? She says of Romney: "Unlike other candidates, he knows what it takes to create private-sector jobs, and that's exactly what our country needs."
