If Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee ultimately opt against presidential runs, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are the clear front-runners for the nomination, according to a new poll.
Continue ReadingThe survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling released Tuesday shows Gingrich and Romney each with 24 percent of the vote among Republican primary voters if Huckabee and Palin are out of the picture. Ron Paul would take third place with 12 percent of the vote.
Huckabee has typically led in much of the early national and state-level polling. But it’s considered increasingly unlikely that either he or Palin will run — especially after neither was suspended from Fox News recently when Gingrich and Rick Santorum were.
