Gingrich Files Campaign Form With I.R.S.

NYTimes.com:
"Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker, took the first official step toward running for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination on Friday by filing paperwork with the Internal Revenue Service to explore a potential candidacy. The new organization, Newt Exploratory 2012, will report its contributors and expenses to the I.R.S.; it is not required to report to the Federal Election Commission unless Mr. Gingrich becomes an official candidate. Mr. Gingrich is listed as the committee’s only officer, and his chief election lawyer, Stefan C. Passantino, as the committee’s treasurer."
