"CREW accuses the conservative 501(c)(4) American Future Fund of being an organization that exists primarily to elect Republicans, a step beyond the level of political activity allowed for a 501(c)(4). As evidence, it points to AFF President Sandra Greiner, who was elected to the Iowa Senate as a Republican in 2010, and to the millions of dollars AFF spent against Democrats during the past cycle.
“Any kind of argument that they’re not engaged in political activity is clearly a lie,” CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan told Roll Call. She added that CREW will continue to look into “the abuse of c4 status” all year."
