Issue committee run by anti-tax activist Bruce fined $11,300

The Denver Post:
"A judge has levied $11,300 in campaign-finance fines against a group run by anti-tax activist Douglas Bruce for not reporting what was spent to put three tax-slashing measures on the November ballot.

The fine against Active Citizens Together, a nonprofit run by Bruce, is believed to be the largest-ever against an 'issue committee,' a group that financially supports ballot measures. The order issued Tuesday by Administrative Law Judge Matthew Norwood is the latest step in a nearly year-long case to unearth who paid to have the three measures, Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101, put on the ballot.

'ACT tried to conduct a secret campaign and got caught,' said attorney Mark Grueskin, who represented Coloradans for Responsible Reform, the group that opposed 60, 61 and 101."
